She is only 19, and yet in her short career she has escaped the war in Yugoslavia, running from her Croatian home at the age of 6, and from her Serbian home at the age of 11. She adopted Australian nationality and set up home in Sydney with her family only to relinquish her new citizenship in high dudgeon to revert to her Yugoslavian passport. After moving to the United States of America and back to Belgrade she now lives at Monaco.

In the middle of all this media mayhem, Jelena's credentials as a tennis player tend to be overlooked. She was the top-ranked junior in the world at the age of 15 and then, a year later, she announced herself to the public by beating world no 1 Martina Hingis at Wimbledon in the opening round. Jelena had come through the qualifying competition, and was ranked 129 at that time. By the end of her run - she was stopped at the quarterfinals - she had climbed to 37, and she never looked back.

Jelena's final breakthrough took place at Rome in 2001. There she won her first title at one of the big-money, top-tier events, and, having developed the winning habit, she has been doing it on a regualar basis ever since. After that, she won the Toyota Princess Cup at Japan, the Kremlin Cup at Moscow, the Sarasota Open at Florida and after she had won Birmingham she finally won a tournament on every possible surface!
On october, 8, 2001 she entered the Top 10 for the first time in her career, and settled down there, and if she announces the Top 10 as her home, it's meant more literally than with any other player! She has gradually tought herself to try to enjoy life away from the courts, and she likes the same pastimes as any 19-year-old. She loves to shop, she loves movies, music and most of all she loves her boyfriend: Brazilian Formular 1 star Enrique Bernoldi.

Elena Robles 2011 Golf Star

Elena “Lani” Robles has been a contestant on the Golf Channel’s Big Break series twice, with her first appearance being earlier this year on Big Break Sandals Resorts with fellow contestants Carling Coffing and Seema Sadekar. Elena was the first golfer eliminated, but this is no way indicative of her skill as a golfer.

Sometimes the bounces just don’t go your way, especially on a show like the Big Break where your survival may depend on a single swing. She handled the defeat with grace and a positive outlook and the producers of the next Big Break in the Dominican Republic must have taken notice, because she was selected to be a part of the show again, who’s final episode aired tonight (11/30/2010) on the Golf Channel at 9 pm.

Elena was gracious enough to spend a few minutes with me to answer some questions about life as a professional golfer and keep us all up to date on her off course ventures. Enjoy

Johan-Cruyff

The Netherlands national football team is controlled by the Royal Netherlands Football Association. The team played their first ever official international match in 1905 where Belgium were the opposition as the Dutch romped to a 4-1 victory. The team made first round appearances at the 1934 and 1938 World Cups but failed to qualify for any World Cups or European Championships until 1974 as the country entered a period of international wilderness.

Jordan wasn’t just any basketball player, he is revered for his competitiveness, and how beautiful that fire translated on the court.  Michael Jordan was poetry in motion; #23 flew through the air, turned, twisted, adjusted, double-pumped, threw it up behind his head with reverse spin, etc.

And despite all that extra, Jordan exceeded expectations. Even when Jordan missed one of his circus shots, fans were so accustomed to seeing him convert those impossible moves that they were surprised that it didn’t go in.

Mark Henry pictures

Mark Henry may retire soon! The veteran wrestler was recently in Australia to promote WrestleMania 27 and expressed his retirement plans to The West Australian – a well known Australian newspaper. Mark said he is planning to retire anytime in next one and a half years though he believes he still have at least three years of wrestling left in him. Henry hasn’t planned his life after retirement yet but he thinks he will not leave the business or join any other company.  “World’s Strongest Man” wants to work with WWE and help the upcoming breed of wrestlers; he will either be an agent or a trainer. Mark has been a strong and stable mid-carder and had been with the organization even in the most difficult times. His retirement will certainly create another vacuum which will be difficult to fill up
